Personality:
Ib is a silent protagonist, presumed to only speak when the player is required to make decisions and during cutscenes. Her personality and the story's ending is dependent on the player's decisions. Other hints to her type of personality are given by the way other characters react to her during cutscenes. Certain events will also allow the player to talk with characters and sometimes NPCs more than once.

This version of Ib will be based on choices that aim to create a strong bond with Garry and leading up to the "Forgotten Portrait" ending, which also involve making choices that will cause Garry to die in the toy box. Here are some of the important decisions made in the game that will be applied to Ib:

❥ Ib stops Garry from kicking the mannequin
❥ Ib often has conversations with Garry
❥ Ib responds to Garry in the most dire situations and never uses the silent "..." option
❥ Garry pulls the rightmost cord in the cord room and drops a doll
❥ Garry moves the doll out of the way instead of kicking it
❥ Garry fails the doll room
❥ Ib explores another floor beneath the dark gallery without Garry and sleeps on the "Final Stage"

For a nine-year-old, Ib is unusually mature and well-behaved for her age, most likely due to her mother trying to treat her somewhat older than she actually is. Her father on the other hand most likely still treats her like a child, as evidenced during her ninth birthday when he gifts her with a giant stuffed bunny. Being rather obedient, she follows the rules and avoids trouble. She often abides to the words of her parents, as well as Garry, a fellow gallery visitor. When visiting an art exhibition for the first time, she's curious to explore the gallery on her own and her mother grants her permission without having to worry about her daughter.

Not only does she try to keep herself out of trouble, but she does the same for others by expressing her disapproval. For example, she warns a smaller child not to touch a sculpture and when trapped in the alternate exhibit, she stopped Garry from breaking a mannequin head to prevent putting themselves into the possibility of more danger.

Ib loves her parents and carries a strong bond with Garry that was built during her journey in Guertena's art exhibition. Being the only two humans stranded in the strange place, Ib and Garry grew close together. On her own, she's able to put on a brave face, but finds herself to be in more comfort when having Garry by her side. She prefers his company against splitting away from him. Whenever she feels anxious, he would be there to offer reassurance. When he had lost his mind in the doll room, Ib was desperate to bring him back to his senses, slapping him, calling for his name, and hugging him when she succeeded.

Brave and possessing a strong heart, she's willing to venture off into the unknown and take chances. Before she met Garry, she was left on her own to explore a terrifying alternate world of the art exhibition. She took many risks, such as following mysterious words painted all over the walls that lead her further into the frightening gallery. Despite how likely there could be danger ahead of her, there was still the possibility of finding an exit and reuniting with her parents. However, her spirit can be crushed if she were to experience or see numerous hopeless situations. Two possible endings called "A Painting's Demise" and "Welcome to the World of Guertena" show Ib's behavior after falling into despair. When she's unable to bring herself to move on any further, she sits on the floor, refusing to move on. As long as her spirit isn't broken, she can continue moving forwards to her goal even if the journey is scary.

She's quiet and hardly displays any fear outwardly. Sometimes she may quietly space out while observing something. However, it doesn't mean she lacks emotions. In the direst situations, she speaks up instead of remaining silent. She can be startled, scared, and anxious. Her fear is noticeable in her movements. She may back up suddenly and may sometimes have her hands drawn up towards her chest. When one of the gallery rooms had many hostile works of art coming to life, she fled at high speed until she collapsed. While unconscious, she had nightmares of being surrounded by the monsters and no means of escape. She is also a caring girl who would help out a stranger and express concern over others. She was willing to help Garry during their first meeting and had shown sympathy for Mary even after discovering that she's a painting, as well as a potential threat.

Although she cannot read complicated words, she demonstrates the intelligence to solve puzzles. If she can't figure out the answer right off the bat, she examines every little bit of the area around her to find clues to one. When thrown into the alternate gallery, she's forced to solve a variety of different riddles in order to press forward. Being rather young though, there's still much for her to learn. She's curious, often asking questions about the words she can't read and their meanings. Not only is she inquisitive about vocabulary, she's observant about the people she meets and may even bring up questions relating to them.

No matter how mature Ib may come off as, she's still a child. There’s a lot for her to learn and she still desires the company of adults for support. Without any assurance, she could become completely broken in the long run.
